How to Prevent Back Pain
Time stands still when your back is hurting. It becomes challenging to do most anything, even simple things we take for granted like walking, running, and climbing stairs. Spending 8 or 9 grueling hours at your job sounds like torture. And, if the pain gets really bad, it can affect every area of your daily life.
Nothing about pain is good. However, there are plenty of things you can do to strength your back, ease pain and even eliminate pain completely in come cases.
Kyle Reilly, health writer for the “Reno Chiropractic” web site, insists regular non-jarring exercise can help with most challenges causing pain. And an ailing back in no exception. However, if you are suffering, it’s important not to do exercises that are too strenuous, and could end up jolting or straining your back. So consider only exercises that do not cause too much strain or put too much of a load on your back. All pain and especially back pain can often be minimized or completely eliminated just by regular, low stress exercise. Paying particular attention to strengthening the muscles around your core, especially your abdominals, can be exceptionally helpful.
Staff at the Reno Chiropractic Clinic recommends losing a few extra pounds can also be very beneficial in easing back pain. Excessive weight can strain your entire body including your back muscles. Taking off a few extra pounds will take some of the burden off of your back muscles, so you will experience less pain.
Was your grandma or teacher always after you to sit up straight? And sure enough, they knew what they were talking about. Proper posture while sitting or standing is beneficial. Make it a point to improve your posture and you will go far towards reducing a lot of your pain.
One of the most common causes of back pain is improper lifting, especially when lifting something heavy. Lift with your legs is great advice. When picking up something, bend at the knees, take the object you want to pick up in your hands and rise up, letting your legs do most of the work. And, if you have to lift something really heavy, don’t try to do it alone. It is better to ask for help lifting than to ask for help to seek medical attention. Plus, not only will asking for help save your back, it can also prevent accidents – like dropping and damaging the item that needs to be moved.
Prevention and simply lifestyle changes can make a world of difference in the quality of your life if you are suffering from back pain. Be wise. Ask for help, lose weight, and be kind to your body.
